Julia Landauer Captures Historic Win at Motor Mile Speedway

Mooresville, NC (May 5, 2015) – Julia Landauer made history as she became the first woman to win a Limited Sportsman Late Model division race at Motor Mile Speedway. Piloting the #70 Girls Who Code/Lee Pulliam Performance car during the season-opening event, Landauer started from the second place position and led 31 laps to secure the win.

“This is incredible,” Landauer exclaimed. “We worked really hard, and got the car set up really well. We had some luck with some others having some bad luck, and we capitalized on every moment.”

After capturing the lead on lap 3 of her career-first Limited Sportsman race, Landauer lost the lead on a restart on lap 28. Following her competitor closely, Landauer regained the lead on lap 42 and took the win on lap 50.

The race was the first of seven for Landauer and team owner Lee Pulliam, with crew chief Matt Taylor. The victory also marked the first for Pulliam as a team owner at the track.

“Julia— I couldn’t be more proud of her. To come down here for the first time… the first time she got in the car was on Tuesday. To get the win, she did a really great job,” Pulliam said.

Landauer leads the points standings as competitors head into a 6-week break before returning to Motor Mile Speedway on June 13, 2015.
