Charlotte, NC – (May 8, 2016) After a 5 week break, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West visited the historic Tucson Speedway in Arizona on Saturday, May 7, 2016 for the Wildcat 150. After a 12th place qualifying effort, Landauer raced her way through the field to finish 5th. It was Landauer’s first top-5 finish of the season in her third race.
“What a great comeback, so proud of this team,” Landauer said after the race. “We struggled a little bit with qualifying but made changes to the car, I put my head down, and raced hard. Big thanks to Toyota Racing, NAPA Filters, Bill McAnally Racing and Julia Landauer Racing!”
Tucson Speedway is known for its abrasive track surface, which makes the tires degrade quickly. Therefore, tire conservation is crucial for every driver, in addition to racing hard.
“I knew this race would be challenging as I’ve never had to conserve tires so dramatically,” Landauer said. “My spotter Eric Holmes, crew chief Mario Isola, and I discussed strategy for the race and were able to execute it! This race was so much fun. Can’t thank my crew enough for working so hard all weekend.”
Also at Tucson Speedway to watch the race was Landauer’s long-time friend and mentor, retired professional racer Lyn St. James. Landauer and St. James met in 2005 for St. James’ Driver Development Program.
The Wildcat 150 will air on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at 6 pm ET on NBC Sports Network (NBCSN).
The next race is on Saturday, May 21, 2016, at Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino, CA
