Julia Landauer headed down to Orlando, FL for five great days of racing in the Pro division of the US Legends Car series Feb. 15 – 20, 2015. The week started off strong with fast times in the top-10 in practice. “Orlando is a really fast, hard track with all the drivers [being] incredibly close in times,” Julia said. “We started off strong and then unfortunately had a lot of bad luck.”
The bad luck started in Race 1 on Monday the 16th, when Julia was spun out and then hit in the first corner, breaking her rear end housing and ending her race. In Race 2 Julia started top-10 but was hit going into a corner about halfway through the race. She recovered to finish 11th. In Race 3 Julia was racing hard when she pushed a little too hard and hit the outside wall. That hit tore off the right front wheel, which cut the brake line, while also making the throttle cable stick; Julia crashed full-speed into the wall. She was OK, but the car was not. Julia would not be able to race the two remaining races.
“I’m really disappointed, as I was looking forward to this week for a while and it’s such a bummer not being able to race all the races. But I made a mistake, which happens in racing, and also unfortunately led to a really bad situation,” Julia said afterwards.
“My neck is a little sore, but I’m fine and we’ll get the car back together. Thanks so much to CJ D’Addario, 860 Motorsports, Julia Landauer Racing and my dad for coming out to support my racing. We’ll get ’em next time.”
