One More Week!

Sat Mar 11 2017

Hello?

It’s been a little while since I last connected with you and I’m going to fill you in on what’s been going on, but first…

IT’S ALMOST RACE DAY? And I’m pumped. My team and I worked really well together in our preseason testing and I’m very excited to translate that at race time. My season will start up on Saturday, March 18th when we head to Tucson Speedway. Our second race will be Thursday, March 23rd at Kern County Raceway, and we’ll have a double-header race on Saturday, March 25th. Yes, that’s right, we’re going to have a four race sweep in 8 days. With this tight schedule, I will send a recap newsletter after the March 25th race, instead of after each race. Please feel free to follow along and see results on my TwitterInstagram, and Facebook.

What I’ve Been Up To Shortly after announcing our 2017 plans I flew to Palm Springs, where I spoke at the Tenacity Project‘s banquet. The Tenacity Project’s goal is to empower, educate, and inspire girls through the sport of lacrosse. It’s always particularly fun talking with a younger audience and seeing their excitement.

At the end of January I participated in NASCAR’s Media Day, where I met with the press for video, photo, and audio interviews. This was my first time experiencing that type of media engagement that the Truck, Xfinity, and Cup drivers go through, and it was definitely a lot? You can watch my press conference here. We also had Fan Appreciation Day that week. It’s really special to get a chance to see the fans at the Hall of Fame, in particular.

I collaborated with NASCAR on a video segment where they interviewed me about being a role model and an influential figure. Here’s the article and short video if you’d like to watch it.

During SpeedWeeks at the end of February I headed down to Miami to give a keynote on asphalt (yes, asphalt). I discussed the driver’s experience as it relates to asphalt at the 10th Anniversary Argus Americas Asphalt Summit.

Spotify is celebrating Women’s History Month by asking influential women to curate playlists for the app…and they asked me to make one? I’m honored to have been asked to share my music interests alongside Ani DiFranco, Katie Couric, and Lauren Lapkus. AND I finally got to think of my life as a movie and make a sound track. You can listen to my playlist here.

Yesterday I was in NYC where I spoke on a panel for Accenture’s Women’s History Month conference (Facebook Live video here). I shared the stage with Sallie Krawcheck and Pattie Sellers, where we discussed modern-day networking and personal brand development.

Have a great rest of your weekend and talk to you in a few weeks?
